(Lantasi Records LD71107)
| Recorded at studios in Austin and Nashville, "Out
Of The Shadows" transcends musical realms, moving from country to
good old fashioned rock 'n' roll with the occasional hint of Southern
blues and soul thrown in for extra flavouring. Throughout Linda Gail's
distinctive piano styling blends happily with guitars, horns and
sax', while her vocals fit comfortably amidst harmony backups (including
those from the legendary Jordanaires on several tracks), creating
an album that defies genre categorization.
Headed up by such Lewis originals as What A Beautiful Day,
already becoming a favourite following several television performances,
Everything I Need and The Sweetest Love, this collection
is complimented by standards like Dan Penn's Dark End Of The Street
and Smokey Robinson's Relentless alongside Hank Wangford's
Never Wear Mascara (When You Love A Married Man). The set
is concluded with a reprise of the much requested I'd Rather Stay
Home And Rock 'n' Roll, this time in enhanced video format and
only ever previously seen on television.
